The Godfather’ of the 13th century
IN DEVELOPMENT
Set against the raw, desolate beauty of Iceland, Fury is both a family saga and
an unf linching depiction of a society in the grip of a brutal internecine war. At
once, epic and deeply intimate, Fury chronicles how the dreams, ambitions,
passions and secrets of one family drown an entire nation in ashes and blood.
Fury takes as its starting point the bloodiest day in Icelandic history: August
21st, 1238, when the Sturlungar clan was overwhelmed by the combined forces
of the two biggest rival clans. The once mighty Sturlungar forces were
decimated.
Their leaders — Sighvatur Sturluson and five of his sons, including
the formerly invincible Sturla — were executed; their followers slaughtered en
masse. Afterwards, the victorious chieftains of the rival clans divided the
country between them, hunting down and punishing all those loyal to the
Sturlungar clan. It was a terrible and defining day and the start of a fierce
guerrilla war waged by a rag-tag militia of survivorsfor the control of Iceland.
